I'm not sure of what the worlds second best rugby nation calls it, but in England we call it "too rough for doodles" or "no pads or helmets"

I taught at a prep school in Edinburgh...rugby was simply "football".
Soccer was referred to as "soccer" or roundball.

That was Scotland, what the hell do they know about sports, other than curling and tossing the caber, because the Scots are a bunch of tossers after all.
