It figures that you of all people wouldn't understand. First off, this isn't about the strokes, it's about their new album. I like the strokes and I'm not afriad to admit it, like I like a lot of other types of music that others on this board find repulsive. I just don't cram it down their throats or over glorify it. I find Britney fun and laughable, but she's no "greatest musician ever" nor is she trying to be. I take it for what it's worth and enjoy it.
As for the Strokes, I've just been a bit bored with them lately. Their first album was catchy at first, but 11 songs in 36 minutes can only carry you for song long for 3 years.
I said that I hate to admit it because:
(1) I bitched about having to go see them with Smackette a couple of weeks ago.
(2) I said then the I really didn't care for the new stuff when I heard it live.
(3) Then I listened to the streaming version of the new album and again stated on the board that it didn't do much for me.
(4) Now, after 3 weeks of bashing the album, I now hate to admit to all of these people who have already heard me say that I wasn't impressed with the new album that now I actually starting to like it a little bit.
After being so public about something, it's hard to say "You know what? Maybe I wasn't giving it enough time." I hate admitting that I might have been wrong - but I did it, now didn't I? You should try it.
Anything else I can clear up for you?
