Hey there,

Just wanted to give a "shout-out" to all the indie fans on this board that are into obscure post-punk, shoegaze and weird electronic stuff.  My friend Brandon & I will be spinning tonight at the Marx Cafe (3203 Mt. Pleasant St NW Washington DC) for another round of our "We Fought the Big One" event.  No Cover but you must be 21.  We'll be spinning from 10pm till 3am. If you haven't been to Marx before, it's a cool little place in Mt. Pleasant, kinda behind Adams Morgan.

I realize there are a shitload of other alternative music events in the city, but a lot of them play a predictable selection of songs music fans have heard thousands of times before.  We just wanted to offer an alternative to that, hopefully even turning some people onto new bands.  Here's what we played last month...

hey, i resent that!

i'm curious...how do you remember what you played? or do you have someone else write down all the songs? (i'd imagine it'd be tough writing down the songs while you're playing)

Impressive. I have that on vinyl but haven't heard it in years.  A true fan.

The Radio Department are just releasing their CD in the UK very soon...but you probably know that already. Hope it comes out in the US too soon. Not sure about that yet.

Lots and lots and lots of very good music on that list!

Have you heard anything by a band called Dirty On Purpose? I love the song called Cheat Death but haven't heard too much else from them and was wondering if it's just as good. Sort of a cross between Trespassers William and Stratford 4 with a very little Douglass Heart (the band, not the man) or Mojave 3 ala Rachel Goswell.

Huh? This is pretty standard practice for DJs, and a required one at radio stations.
