Top 'Fave Five' Bassists

Jah Wobble.  Who else has propelled an entire album on his bass lines?
 
 Sara Lee.  Gang of Four and B-52s plus several others.
 
 The bassist for Explosions in the Sky.  He was the glue that held the show together.  Great lines, and impressive chords.
 
 Mark Sandman.  2 strings good, seven or more bad.
 
 Gads, who did the Twin Peaks stuff?  That was all baritone guitar/bass if I remember correctly.
 
 As to Michael Balzary, Bootsy, and Les Claypool I don't really listen to their music much, so I can not really state how good or bad they are.

â?¢ Derek Forbes, Simple Minds bassist on their early abums, never fails to knock me out. Intricate and inventive without being noodly, he's the driving force behind all their best material and what a groove he lays down. I can't stand the oodles of noodle i.e. Claypool.
 â?¢ Gord Sinclair of the Tragically Hip. Tasteful, melodic, never overdone, and rock-solid. He also does all the arrangements for the band and they have some pretty interesting ideas going on. I think they have one of the srongest rhythm sections around.
 â?¢ Me'Shell Ndegeocello can really lay it down. Very powerful and soulful, she puts everything she's got into her playing.
 â?¢ John Paul Jones. No explanation needed. Loved his collaboration with Diamanda Galas.
