How was Morcheeba?
« on: December 01, 2005, 10:10:00 am »
I hemmed and hawed all day about going to this one, primarily because Skye was no longer singing with the group.  But, the final haw came while reading the Morcheeba forum where I found out that Paul the DJ, and one of the orginial three members wasn't able to do the tour due to visa problems.  Don't get me wrong Morcheeba's guitarist is great and they had a stellar support musicians on the last tour, but with one original member on board I'll wait for the next time...

I was pretty disappointed by the show.  I didn't realize in advance that The new female lead was Daisy Martey.  Her voice was pretty good...and I didn't even mind that she was basically 'covering' the old stuff.  My biggest distraction was how she 'hammed' up the performance with lots of spinning around and fake smiles.  That was actually hard to watch.

They replaced Skye with Daisy for the new album which I haven't heard yet.  And Daisy was then replaced by yet another singer Jody Sternberg for the tour.

Skye is working on a solo project at the moment, and I'll bet some self arse kicking is taking place in the old Morcheeba camp.

I'll post the links to new song clips shortly...

Ross came back out to grab his jacket after the enncore and didn't even acknowledge the cheering crowd. As someone near me said "well, that's a big fuck you to the crowd!"

Show was good, the sound was great. Vibe could've been a bit better, but I had a good time.

most artists like to say "a big fuck you" to the crowd.  most crowds deserve it . . . for talking and wearing their hats on backwards and having silly day glo dreadlocks that shriek "look at me, look at me."
