motorcycle help/question

I'm looking for a motorcycle and sidecar.
 I've found a bike (1972 triumph) now i'm looking for the sidecar.
 long story short- does not need to be roadworthy.
 
 anyone have any leads or know any dealers or motorcycle accessories?

For a sidecar for a vintage Triumph, check Bob's BMW which is up towards Baltimore (Columbia maybe?) as they do a lot of vintage BMW restorations; they will probably not have the actual sidecar but can put you in touch with some of the local Brit bike folks.
 
 Also consider posting to the Brit Iron mailing list (you have to join first and instructions are here http://www.brit-iron.org/)
 
 There's always eBay but those are hard to come by so you will need lots of patience if you go that route.
 
 Have you considered one of the new Urals? IIRC you can get a bike and sidecar, brand spanking new, for under $9k.  I've had many a vintage British bike and while I love them, they are fussy, high-maintenance, and you might enjoy a newer, less tempramental bike more.

 unfortunately, this is not for me, but for work. and we don't have quite 9 grand to spend.
 someday i would like to own a vespa. i'm just afraid of where i live in anacostia, i'd turn into a pinata at some stop lights.

someone i know just hit a full grown deer while going sixty three.  his motorcycle is gone into scrap metal, his life is hanging on like the skin off his body . . . so don't right motorcycles.  deer will kill you.

 and to the other poster above telling him not to ride because of deer... Right??

Deer aren't the only animals that we need to worry about.

Sheesh... might as well never go on an airplane either. Can't live your life scared all the time...
 
 For the OP (Original poster)... if you're just looking for something for people to look at, try the local auto scrap yards. I mean, if it never has to run at all, you can probably find a junked-out frame/shell and just spot-weld some light sheet metal over it.  
 
 And if that Triumph is never going to go on the road... well... that is kind of a shame and I hope it is already very dead, because it is so sad to see a classic bike just sit and collect dust. (You can always give it to me. I will give it a good home...)

Meh. I fly at least twice a month for work, sometimes a lot more than that. I've flown over 30,000 miles since March. I don't think it's very idiotic.  I can be in San Francisco in 5 hours on a plane or 5 days in a car.  And while you can never entirely escape the airport drama, you can plan away from a lot of it (for example, fly out of National instead of Dulles and it's almost always smooth, easy and painless).
 
 I think ruling out an entire mode of transportation just out of fear causes you to miss out on a lot of opportunities.

Well I rode bikes for 25+ years, and after one too many near misses thanks to some prick behind the wheel of a car I figured it was time to give it up. 25+ years without a spill, not even putting it down off the stand brought me to the conclusion I was on borrowed time.
 
 My favourite bike that I owned was a 79 Triumph Bonneville, the most reliable was my Honda Magna.
 
 Now I'm in the sunshine state a bike would be ideal - apart from the fact you can't go a week without a report on tv of some biker getting killed on the roads down here....and they ride around without helmets too!!!   :eek:  I don't ride my roadbike without a friggin helmet for crying out loud.

wow, that santa thing is pretty horrifying. also bad- i'm wondering where that sidecar is....
 
 so far i've found two. one in arizona and one in west virginnie. the arizona one is cheaper although shipping might kill me.
 although it's black with flames on it.
