Y-Pb-Pr Component Question
« on: November 12, 2007, 11:12:00 am »
Hopefully one of your techie guys (or gals) can help me out with this question.

I use the Y-Pb-Pr component inputs on my TV for our hi-def cable and DVD player, but since there's only two of these inputs on my TV, I'm generally out of luck with plugging my PS2 in, since I'm too lazy to move everything and switch it around each and every time.

The problem lies with Guitar Hero; I'm itching to get the new one, but since I haven't played the 2 recently, my wife has a valid point that it's a waste of money and that I'm fickle in my attention span.

What I'm looking for is a splitter box (not sure of the actual term) for Y-Pb-Pr cables.  I had this box a while back for RGB cables, and essentially you plugged everything into the box, then pressed the corresponding button when you wanted to use that device.

I've searched around a bit for the box in-stores and online, but since I don't know the name, I'm having trouble finding one.  Can anyone help?

An  actual guitar that you can play and write songs on.  Not some silly toy?

given your discerning ear, i'm not convinced you'd know the difference between a plastic toy and a real guitar.

guitar hero rules.  It is not a silly toy.  It is the best video game ever invented.

I weep for your generation.  You'd rather watch sports than play sports, read travel magazines than travel, play "Guitar Hero" than play an actual guitar, watch porn than have sex.

 Dupek
game's over.  this walalce character isn't real.  first he rails about the oppresion that his music - the music of today, i.e. the music of youth - has to endure.  in other words, he's proclaiming his status as a youth, and his childish disposition further confirms this.

now he's talking about weeping for a generation of mouse potatoes, i.e. HIS supposed generation.  walalce - if that is indeed your real name - are you claiming to not belong to a generation that values the virtual over the actual?  or are you in fact not who you present yourself to be?

i've switched opinions.  this is dupek.  final proof: i can't leave stupid enough alone and keep giving him attention - just like the good ol'days. *sigh*.  plus ca change...

Brian Wallace adds to the conversations and is sometimes funny, who cares who he is or not?

As for Guitar Hero, South Park made me want to get the game:

Here's a cheap switcher. Looks like it's out of stock for a couple weeks, though.

You can also get a cheap receiver that does component switching. Or can you do HDMI?

That's the one I'm set to order, Chip...thanks.

As for HDMI, I don't have those inputs right now, so this is the easiest solution.  In the future, I might geek out on it a little more, but for the time being this is exactly what I need.

Chip's got the one you want.  I buy all my cables/switches from monoprice.  That switch in particular, my parents use for an older TV because you can program the switch to work with your remote(s) - if they power in the DVD, the switch changes to the DVD plugs, if they power on the cable, it auto switches to cable.
