What are your thoughts on DAR Constitution Hall?

Good place to see a show? I see that the Strokes are playing there in late April.

Joe, welcome to the board...

Prepare yourself for lots of people telling you how much they hate DAR. The acoustics are awful, sightlines as well. Most people end up sitting thru most of the shows and you can't bring drinks to your seats... IMHO, the place is awful and surely ruined any show I have seen there. I'll never see a show there again.

Ahhh, thanks for your input. There are bad venues that I hate in California as well.

personally the place doesn't bug me... the only bad experience i've had was when it was hot and humid inside it for the pixies, the show still rocked...

It doesn't bother me as much either but it really all depends on the show. The Strokes are not a band I'd want to see at DAR. (Not that I'd want to see them anyway, but giving them the benefit of the doubt.) They rock too much for DAR and I can't imagine their sound working well in there at all nor is it an atmosphere that would ever work for the mood you would hope for one of their shows.

Saw the Strokes there last time, and I'm definitely not doing that again. Terrible venue for them. I just got tix to see em in Atlantic City at the Borgata - general admission, the way it should be for a Strokes show.

Sit down.  That is the annoying thing.  That and when I saw Love and Rockets the lights kept going out and the band was freaking left and right.

I think I speak for all of us when I say the venue has raped all of our mothers, brothers, and sisters.

Man, sitting down IS annoying. I'm so glad they give me the option at work to stand here at my computer all day. I like standing at restaurants and movie theaters as well. You should see me standing while I'm driving my car.

Right, you have the *option* to stand.  How about when you go dance, do you sit?  When you go ice skating do you sit?  Skiing?  Tennis?

I don't dance.

Nor do I play tennis, ice skate, or ski. I do run long distances, so I know it's possible to stand for extended periods of time.

It's just very uncomfortable and difficult to stand in one place for four hours straight without ones legs and back cramping up. The other activities you mention allow a person to move about and stretch ones body. Standing at a show does not.
