If this is true, then I may have to upgrade.

Too bad, but I don't think this will happen.  At least not yet anyway.

that would be cool

on another unrelated ipod note I was at a parfty last night and a guy from national geographic had a metallic red ipod - pretty cool looking - he said they had special ordered 200 from apple and were allowed to choose a custom color

That's really cool.  I mentioned in another thread how I'd love to have an iPod with radio capabilities.  Does Sirius carry NPR?  However, that would mean purchasing a new one, which isn't likely.  Unless Apple offers a mail in update.

I would LOVE that, and if it happens, I'll be glad I haven't yet upgraded by pod.  I've subscribed to Sirius for a year (got free home equipment with a Howard Stern promotion, so saved $150).  If I could carry Sirius around with me, I'm sure I'd listen more (Air America, for instance).

Not likely just yet....

The deals may be done, but right now the smallest Satellite radio receivers are still way too hefty....

Anyone given  Podcasting  a whirl?  It's a method of syndicating through blogs audio content that can be transferred to iPods for later listening.  i.e.  Pitchfork and Air America

Haven't tried it myself and have no idea how hard it would be to setup, but at first glance there appears to be rapidly growing content.
