Anyone go the Nada Surf show?  If so, did The Tyde open for them?

Speaking of the Tyde, I heard them doing a nice cover of a Galaxie 500 song that appears on a new Rough Trade comp album...

I ended up not going, though I was more interested in Nada Surf. Seemed like almost no one was going to be there so decided to save my gas money for another show. Would like to know how the show went.

I went, I enjoyed Nada Surf a lot, mostly because I knew most of the songs really well.  They only played a couple of songs off the previous two albums (they did not play Popular).  Low point was probably when they played their French song.  They did an interesting version of Stalemate, they broke in to Love Will Tear Us Apart for a few minutes in the middle of the song, it fit in perfectly.  They also played The Light that Never Goes Out in tribute to the check engine light on their old van that eventually died.  Third time I have heard that covered by different bands in the last year.  Neil Finn's version was still the best, but they did a respectable job with it.

Ozma was cheesy Pinkerton era Weezer-like band with bad songs.

And then as we left some guy who works at the Black Cat said I hope you all realize you just lost two hours of your life.  This from the moron in his hipster union jack jacket who works at the club who puts the shows on.  It seems to me that the managers at the Black Cat do a great job and are nice people, but some of the staff can be pretty annoying and are worse than the hipster patrons.

The Tyde were supposed to open and Pollstar still shows them opening for them.  Oh well, I'm going to see Nada Surf Tues. night in Pittsburgh.

Glad you had a good time!   ;)  Sorry I missed you.

It's okay to think it but that is a really dumb thing to say as an employee of the club.

Just checking.  I assumed you had listed it all and that my friend mistook "love will tear us apart" for a Smiths song.  Poor soul!

 Thanks!
