Radiohead Inks With ATO Records

After weeks of rumors, it is official at last: Radiohead will release In Rainbows on CD in the U.S. via ATO Records on January 2. The album will actually be released on the band's own imprint under ATO, listed as TBD Records. A spokesperson for the band told Rolling Stone they "ran into trouble in trying to clear all previously discussed potential label names," so they went with 'To Be Determined.'

"Bodysnatchers" and "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" are both currently the radio singles from In Rainbows in North America, with ATO having been working both tracks to radio for weeks before the deal was officially announced. Last week, the band set December 31 as the international release date for In Rainbows on CD via XL Recordings.

Also last week, Radiohead treated fans to a pair of offbeat Webcasts. On Thursday, the band tested out the Webcast with a live Bjork cover and Thom Yorke spinning records. On Friday, they cut loose with covers of New Order's "Ceremony" and The Smiths' "The Headmaster Ritual," along with performances of some of the new In Rainbows tunes. They also spun more of their favorite songs and showed wacky videos (including a parody of the movie Seven set to "15 Step").

That ATO records is one hell of an "indie" label

According To Our Records (or ATO Records) was founded in early 2000 by Dave Matthews (of the Dave Matthews Band), Coran Capshaw, Chris Tetzeli and Michael McDonald as a division of RCA. ATO Records is based in New York City and currently distributes its records through Sony BMG.

But interestingly enough it does makes it's releases  available via eMusic.
