Wilco's Winter Residency
« on: December 14, 2007, 11:07:00 am »
Anyone attempting to go to this?  I'm not sure I can make it, but it's so tempting.

Tickets go on pre-sale in about an hour.  It'll be hard not to just buy them and figure out the logistics later.

WOuld love to go but that's a pricey trip not worth making IMO.

The only reason I'm even considering it is because my company's main office is in Chicago.  It would be sweet to combine a work trip and this show...especially with flight and hotel paid for.

i was super late to the wilco party; so, i actually got hooked on a ghost is born & yankee hotel foxtrot.  what i can remember from NYE 2004 at MSG is f'in amazing....

i wouldn't mind spending the $170 (plus travel, hotel, incidentals), but i'm not about to use precious vacation time for this.

nkotb, since you can make this a business trip, you should be the board's designated attendee!

I'm not saying those aren't good albums, just the tunes have been played now for literally 4 years straight...

At any rate, it would be a fun run of shows. THe one good thing though is that since they're dusting off these old tunes, you can expect to hear them in the coming tour.

feb 15, 16, 18, 19, 20.   short write-up in the chicago tribune:

Wilco to play 5-night Riviera residency
Wilco will play a five-night residency at the Riviera Theatre in February in which it promises to play every song the band has recorded.

Wilco??s career covers six studio albums, including last year??s ??Sky Blue Sky,? and two ??Mermaid Avenue? collaborations with Billy Bragg on the lyrics of Woody Guthrie.

??Over the five nights we will attempt the ??complete Wilco?? and try to clear out the dusty corners of the catalog that we haven??t attended to in a while,? singer Jeff Tweedy said Monday in a statement announcing the shows, which will take place Feb. 15, 16, 18, 19 and 20. Each night??s set will be different.

Tickets ($35 plus service fees) go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through Ticketmaster.
