Box Office Tickets

Do I stand a better chance standing in line to buy tickets at the box office when they go on sale or trying online?  Are there typically many people waiting in line to buy them at the box office?

Unfortunately there is no usually.  Every show differs.  Sometimes the box office isn't open when shows go on sale.  But I would imagine that with the internet and all there would be more people trying to get tickets on line,  however there are also more people in the on line world to sell the tickets.  So,  I have no idea where one might stand a better chance to get tickets.
