What makes a camera "non-pro"?
« on: July 15, 2007, 09:18:00 pm »
Could someone clarify what about a camera makes it "non-professional"?  Size?  Mega-pixels?

I'm not a professional photographer, but I would like to get some good pictures at the Travis show tomorrow night.  Seems to me that the camera doesn't determine professionalism, but the skill of the photographer him/herself.  So the term "non-pro" is quite vague.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel, which is certainly not a professional camera.  But it's not a small fit-in-your-pocket camera either.

 Can someone enlighten me?  Thanks!

Generally speaking if it has a detachable lens we consider it a ??professional? camera. By non-pro we mean that handheld point and shoot cameras are okay.
