There is a Hurricane Tammy in the Atlantic. And she demands to be taken seriously.

otis is a much more pressing concern... hopefully the folks in acapulco have time to get supplies and find shelter.  storm went from tropical depression to Cat 4 in less than 24 hours, which is unheard of, and is expected to landfall as a Cat 5.

Summer heat is making soda cans explode on Southwest flights

At least 20 flight attendants have been injured this summer. The airline says cans are becoming too hot before they’re loaded onboard.

Mmm mmm, hot soda....

i was up in canuckistan last week, and on tuesday i passed through Dulles on the way back home.  i flew in on a little regional jet and the jetway/walkway thingy was too big, so essentially we were walking out in the open... and gawd dang the air was oppressive.  it was like 95*F and 95% humidity.  just gross.  i miss some things about the DVM, but summer swelter ain't one of them.
