Whats the point in buying tickets online...

if you need to pick them up at the box office where there is a line AND it costs more. Is there a separate line for people who want to get their prepaid tickets? please someone explain this to me.

If you buy them far enough in advance they will be mailed to you so you will only have to stand in line once.  The point of buying tickets in advance is so that you will have a ticket to an event in case it sells out.
