How old is the building? Has it always been a place for live music? If not, what was the building originally? When did it become the "9:30 Club?" And such...
Anyone, anyone?
Charles

The 9:30 Club has been around since 1980. Although we were located at 930 F St for most of that time. We have been at our current location for 6 years 7 months 9 days and several hours. Our current location has been around since the 1940's and was built as the WUST Radio Music Hall. Word is that Count Basie and Duke Ellington opened the WUST hall with an evening of head to head musical performance. A story corroborated by our favorite blind piano tuner who assures us that he tuned their pianos. Leter, in the 60's, Pepsi ran a promotion where kids could bring Pepsi bottle caps and see performers who were, at the time, the chart toppers.
How's that?
