Felt this needed a bump.

I agree with snailhook to a degree about the new album; it's wickedly pretensious and exhaustingly excessive.  But that doesn't stop it from being heads and tails above just about everything else I've listened to this year.  The depth of her vision and ambition of this album is just staggering.

Of course, I doubt I'll be anywhere near as obsessed with Ys as I was/am with The Milk-Eyed Mender.  That album still regularly gets spun.

Fun show tonight...she played a few tunes solo, then her backing band came out and played through the entire new album.  She sounds great live and her harp playing was exquisite.  The crowd's request for an encore went unanswered, but a nice way to spend a Friday evening.

This is the reason why she didn't do an encore. From pitchforkmedia.com is a review of the NC show:

"She told a story about playing a "sleepy show" in D.C. the previous night, vowed that tonight would be different, then sat down at her harp and played a pitch-perfect rendition of "Bridges and Balloons".
