Whats the deal with no Doug Pettibone?  Is he no longer her guitar player?

Sadly no - Doug Pettibone left quite recently.  He's in Ray LaMontagne's band now.  Apparently Ray is the musical guest on SNL this week, and Doug will be with him.

Oh yeah... I'd go see two more if she'd stick around and play them.  This was so much better than Wolf Trap two summers ago.

I've got a couple of pictures and some ramblings of mine up at my site...  www.soundoffwithdave.com

I think one of the coolest things she's doing is giving back to fans out of her own pocket.  She's so fed up with hearing how much primary selling agents are adding to her ticket price, she's giving a "ticket surcharge rebate" at the merch stand - $7 off any t-shirt, and $5 off any cd.  And no, she's not marking up her stuff just to discount it and look good... I replaced my Car Wheels on a Gravel Road deluxe edition for less than I could buy it in the stores.

Did she have to read her lyrics off of sheet music, as I've seen her do in the past?

That's pretty constant.  She's always got them with her.  But, hey - if you're going to change up your set list as much as she does, I'm not going to sweat you some cheat sheets to remember it all...

I'ts funny that she does that. Her songs are pretty repetitive, lyrically and musically. I can't imagine many of them having more than eight lines or so of lyrics.

This is not true at all.  Maybe you're mistaking her for some old blues guy.

Did you know she actually has better albums that predate those four?

I have the self titled and sweet old world.  Are the earlier ones worth getting?

she did two shows at the 9:30 in '05.  i was at the second one, and she was heavily relying on her songbook.  it didn't bother me, but it did seem to take forever to transition from song to song.  they'd play a tune and she'd confer with the band as a crew member would come out and flip the pages to find the next song.  the band was tight and she sounded great, it just seemed that the wait time was longer than the song it preceded.

that being said, her self titled album is top notch.
