RSS feeds
« on: April 01, 2009, 01:07:47 pm »
So I've just started playing with Google Reader and RSS feeds generally, and I was wondering if anybody could recommend any great RSS feeds that they use for music news, show announcements, local DC news and events, or anything else that is particularly useful?

Also - does the 9:30 Club calendar have an RSS component?  I found venue RSS feeds for Black Cat, DC9, Rock and Roll Hotel, and the Red and the Black.  It would be awesome to have all of the venues if possible...

930 has a livenation feed http://www.livenation.com/feed/venuefeed/venueid/1831 but haven't posted anything there forever (not surprising since there haven't been any LN events...)

Excellent.  Anybody know if there is an eMusic RSS feed for new releases?

Yeah, but it's kind of hidden, last I checked.

Basically take the URL of any browsing page you want a feed for, for example Alternative/Freshly Ripped (http://www.emusic.com/browse/0/b/-dbm/a/0-0/1200000284+68/0.html) and replace the "browse" with "rss" (i.e. http://www.emusic.com/rss/0/b/-dbm/a/0-0/1200000284+68/0.html). Add that to yr feed reader, magic!

I think I found out about this in the eMusic reader forums. No idea why they don't publicize it.
