Here is what I know
about 5 am my email was hacked from an IP in Nigeria
about 9 am my email was again hacked from a very similar IP in Nigeria
about 9:30 am I got on email (Gmail) and started to see flood of email from friends saying "hey dude are you really stuck in malaysia with tears in your eyes cause the hotel owner won't let you out because you can't pay bill?"
I immediately changed PW
then about 30 minutes later I changed a few other settings and realized someone had set my gmail to fwd emails to a yahoo email
I googled email address and found its someone in zip code adjacent to my current zip code so not too far
Any ideas? Just got Verizon out here in Virginia and network is "secure" although we did not change the KEY but then again looks like they just got in through my gmail and figured out PW?
Is the Nigeria IP address a smokescreen..why was my email set to be forwarded to someone near here?
any ideas appreciated... just would like to get to bottom of it
They also cleaned out my address book and deleted email for last week? I wonder if they were going to delete all my email or something?
