I thought he was funny. And not as offensive as he could have been. Were there tasteless jokes? Sure. But, that's what he's about and they shouldn't have asked him to host.
I do think the Oscars should be classier than him, but that's just because I'm old fashioned and want the Oscars to be glamorous...
There's clearly a move to attract a younger, male audience to watch the Oscars, which has been a declining audience for years. After what was traditionally an older host, in the last decade we've seen Chris Rock, Jon Stewart (twice), Ellen DeGeneres, Hugh Jackman, James Franco, Anne Hathaway and Seth MacFarlane. Seth have the best numbers among 18-34 since 1998, and the best male viewing in that age group in an even longer time.
They're not worried about folks like you and me K8tee.
