Speaking of Porn.. I'm actually reading Porno right now.  Irvine Welsh's sequel to Trainspotting, which I've had for years and am finally just getting to.

Let me know how it goes.  I thought about getting this before but never got around to reading it yet either.

Ive been waiting for the movie adaptation (hopefully with same cast) of Porno for years now.... Speaking of Welsh, did anyone see the film adaptation of Ecstasy yet? Its been in my queue in Netflix for a while now... Same with Acid House (yeah i know its from the 90s, but i still havent seen it).  Love Welsh, he is so much fun to read!

Speaking of sequels, ive seen a lot of shit talking about the sequel to Fight Club (graphic novel).  I for one am extremely excited (I have a signed Snuff autograph hound on my desk at work, I LOVE Chuck and his books) for this and cant wait.  But a lot of people are wary of a continuation of what they consider canonical.  I wonder if the same people hate on Skagboys or Porno...

I feel like an author should continue their creations however they want.

I absolutely loved Trainspotting, both the book and the movie.  I think it took me so long to read Porno because I was a bit nervous about what would happen to the characters and if it would ruin anything for me.  That opinion has changed.  It's Welsh's characters, he can do with them what he wants.  As for the movie, from everything I've heard Danny Boyle say, he's definitely doing the movie and Ewan McGregor, Johnny Lee Miller, and everyone else has agreed to do it, they're just waiting for them to get a bit older so that it fits with the timeline of the book.

It is their characters they can do what they want.  If people don't like it don't read them.

I used to be judgemental on books. But now  I think what makes a decent book is if I can read the whole thing without putting it down and being bored with it.  If I don't like a book now I will just stop half way through and pick up something else.  I got in this phase earlier this year were I read Halldór Laxness' "Independent People", Adam Levin's "Instructions" and David Foster Wallace's "Infinite Jest".  I hated all three books but I forced myself to get through the first two and kept trying on the third one until I said no more.  Now if I can't get into it within the first 30 pages I put it down.  If I am half way through and decide it is awful (Hemingways' "The sun also rises") I put it down and never pick it up again.  Life is too short to read a book that you don't enjoy.

I think I have loved just about everything Ewan McGregor has been in except the Star Wars movies and Velvet Goldmine.
