Did anybody else who saw both GYBE! and Swans during their last tour draw a few parallels between the two?


-Long drone intro
-doom and gloom vibe throughout the shows (GYBE moreso live than on record)
-endurance test (with Swans, it was volume and no AC and with GYBE!, the length of the set)
-similar levels of intensity that rarely, if ever let up

way to make me feel like shit for missing swans


though GYBE at the st apostle is easily in my top 10 of all time.
the 930 set was killer as well, and pretty close with the setlist.

thanks, i checked archive just a few days ago and this wasn't up yet.

this is a decent recording, but some room for improvement.  do let me know if you come across another one.  i saw at least two tapers at the back of the room, so at a minimum there is another recording somewhere out there.

I'm glad I finally saw them live. The combination of the music and the videos was spectacular. That said, the show did seem to drag a bit at times. I never thought I'd say this, but I think it would have been better as a seated show. I think I'm officially old now.
