Mission of Burma - Any chance of selling out?

Do I really need to pay $12 in service charges to buy these tickets at the last minute today, or do you all think I can get away with getting them at the door?  I'm willing to show up relatively close to 9 . . .

>>> I have a free ticket so I'm going a little later,if I make it at all.....but with no radio support in this area at all......what's new??....and knowing the general apathy in this area.....I think going at 9 should insure you a ticket pretty easily....

they didn't sell out last year, and that was on a saturday, so i wouldn't worry.  get there early, though, especially since the openers should be worth seeing.

Lame turnout, but great set(s) from Misson of Burma.  They seemed a lot looser than last year. The new stuff sounds great, and the old stuff doesn't sound dated in the least.

I noticed Ian MacKaye hanging out at the soundboard.  I wonder if Bob Weston let him do some loops?

The Fiery Furnaces' set was "quirky" at first, but rapidly descended into "just plain annoying".

I only saw the last sixty seconds of the Hiss.  It was a rockin' minute.

Did anyone else notice that the stage was moved forward to make the place feel more full?  Don't think I've seen such a thin crowd since the Sea and Cake.

I actually have to say I quite like the Fiery Furnaces-- they're fun live!

Mission of Burma were right on-- played a good mix of new and old (vs.!) and were obviously having a good time.  The crowd knew the music really well and made it all the more fun.

Kudos to the air guitar/air tremelo bar/ air drums player in front of me that from time to time would jump up and down twice.  At first I thought he was dancing pirate style (yarrr....) because all I could see was his elbow goin' back and forth, but then I could see he had most of the guitar (and some of the drum) line memorized.

I have it.  I think it's excellent.  It's in the same vein as the older stuff but also avoids sounding recycled.  Two thumbs up.

If you got there early you were treated to a very kick-ass rock set by The Hiss. I picked up their album and really enjoyed it.

That was my second time seeing the Hiss in a week.  They played Fletchers (headlining) on thursday.  Good sets both times.

GGW, Jonathan and I weren't sure if that was you standing right in front of the soundboard.  Was that your spot?

The Fiery Furnaces had some great ideas and bits, but they were machine gunning songs and bits so fast that nothing really had time to gel for me.  The first song was quite funny though, the lost dog song.

Mission of Burma looked like they were really having fun.  That is what I like to see in a band.  And in reality punk shouldn't have a set much longer than 40-50 minutes, so two sets of that length work great.  I was bummed that they didn't do 1970, but other than that, they hit the classics, and the new ones (especially the two on the other guitar) were great.

The stage is on wheels and can move forward and back as needed.  You have been going to the "right" shows to never see it that far forward, it has been further up over the years.

t'was me.  I thought you might be at the show and looked around for you.

I agree that they looked like they were having fun.  Last year they looked a bit more tentative, as though they were still wondering if they could bring it. But both shows were great.

I saw The Hiss maybe about 2 years ago and really enjoyed them. I like their album too but let it sit by the side more than I should. They are playing them now on 3wk, along with MoB, Decahedron and lots of other local Baltimore/DC bands. (Yes, I know that The Hiss are from Atlanta.) Last night, I finally met the other person who was at the show I attended.   :D
