Can I find any good ones here in this town? I live here since seven months and I still did not have any time to find out where they are.

Tower, other than that you're fucked for buying cd's at all in DC. The small good ones all shut up shop because folk now steal....I mean 'share' music from the internet now.

Why does tower charge $20 bucks more-than-amazon for everything?  Is it because they figure with amazon you get free shipping, so they have to charge you to pick it up yourself at tower???

I find it usually works out to be pretty even.  I was in Tower during lunch today.  I looked for the 4 CDs I ordered from Amazon this week.  2 were cheaper at Tower.  2 were cheaper at Amazon.  Turns out I could have saved about $3 had I bought everything from Tower.

Tower's not bad at all when things are on sale.

So far I just got to visit the CD Game Exchange after I stood in front of a closed DC CD (my Washington D.C. guide seems not to be updated), but I am going to check out Crooked Beat Records which - I must have missed that - is also in Adam's Morgan.

Ditto.  Go a few times and they'll know you over there.  Super nice and helpful, though they do tend to run out of CDs (they're about to remodel, so should have more inventory overall).

Really depends on what you're looking for...The kind guys over at CD Warehouse have never steered me wrong.

Otherwise...Make a trip to Baltimore and visit The Sound Garden in Fells.

I have had good luck at Olsson's (I can never remember whether it is two l's, two s's or two n's).

And you can usually find good stuff at CD Cellar if you are willing to wade through the clearance section, the "slightly scratched" section (I've never had a problem with any disc there) and the regular section.  They seem to have a line on promo copies of newer indie acts, often at $1.99.  The Falls Church store is better than the one in Clarendon.
