That was probably the loudest show I've seen at the Warehouse. Very well done.

The Plums laid the hammer down. Heavy driving rhythm section ala Flipper, Pere Ubu. Wish I could have nabbed one of those free cd-r's they were handing out.

Eluvium were pretty cool too. He played an extended version of "under the water it glowed" first which happens to be my favorite track off his lp, lambent material. He's somewhere between Brian eno (music for airports) and Fennesz. Basically just him creating layers of ambient drone with just a keyboard, guitar and some pedals along to slide projection with what looked to me like russian cutout animation seen on classic arts showcase or pbs.

and of course Mono owned. They chose to play with the stage lights on for some reason but it didn't affect their set. They played with undeniable amounts of passion and intensity. A few peeps in the crowd looked like they were catching the holy ghost when Mono was rocking out.

The reason the stage lights were on is that a guy in the audience fell down flat on his face...TIMBER style, forward...face first.  The bar managers turned the lights on to assist/deal with the fallen one, but then neglected to turn them back off for the rest of the set.

i can take the blame for that. i'm always very careful to set the lights just right for the performer and the audience (i think dim is the way to go, especially for a band like mono), but dealing with the fallen dude (who happened to be in a band i've booked) took a couple of songs and threw me for a loop. oh well, shit happens.

The stage lights were actually on before the incident. They turned on some additional house lights over the crowd when people (including myself) were trying to pick him up. That was really unfortunate. I was talking to him right before they played and he seemed pretty ecstatic to catch Mono's set.
