cheap (but safe) places to stay
« on: April 12, 2005, 02:36:00 pm »
what are some fairly inexpensive places to stay (but still somewhat safe) in/around/outside of DC? Northern VA is OK too, as we'll be coming from NC.

There's room for 2, and it's rather warm.

seeing how the price of rooms in dc went up eighteen percent in two thousand and five, good luck.  try the marriot key bridge in arlington, va.  you are two blocks from a metro, quick cab to georgetown, and the hotel is nice for the price.  plus a great bar on the top floor with views of the city.  but no hookers.  what's a dc are hotel without hookers, though?!

You would probably receive more responses if you gave a more definitive price range and when you're planning to stay. Saying "fairly inexpensive" in the DC area is very different from NC.

Just know that the DC tourist season has begun, so rates will be higher for the next several months.

Hotel Rouge on 16th street.  Reasonably priced, good location, trendy as all get out, nice rooms.

Jury's Normandy Inn seems to turn up relatively Ok rates. Close to $100 a night. It turns up on expedia searches. I thought it was a really nice hotel, too.

Jury's Washington Hotel right on Dupont Circle can sometimes be booked for $99 - $129/night on expedia, travelocity, etc.  It's so well located and a very nice hotel -- big rooms.  Wish there were a hotel like it in NYC...
