John Waters

Hey, I'm just curious, did anyone go to the John Waters gig on Saturday?  I had some friends interested, but didn't get their sh*t together (seems if I don't get tickets for the whole lot of 'em, they don't go...except for a couple resourceful friends!)

Didn't go this time, but I saw him do something similar a few years ago.  He's very entertaining.  Not quite a comedian, but he tells some very funny stories.

John was very funny. He said some things about Michael Jackson that I'm sure will give me nightmares. And he talked about his new film, which will be out in July. He is a very astute observer of pop culture and politics, so I found him thought-provoking as well as entertaining. It was a successful show despite the bad weather, so I'm hoping we can have him back sometime.

I went to the wrap party for the new movie coming out...it's got Chris Isaak in it, who was at the party. He got up and sang "Wicked Game" on karaoke, which was funny. Ahmet Zappa was singing "Feel Like Makin' Love" by Bad Company to his fiance, Selma Blair. It was pretty funny.

Forgot to mention, he said his next project will be a stage version of Cry-Baby to follow up on the success of Hairspray. They are working on casting it now, but he wouldn't mention any names. If he can find a way to get Johnny Depp with James Intveld's vocals like in the movie, I'd be in heaven. And if he can get Iggy Pop to reprise his role too, so much the better!

Were Dweezil and Lisa [Loeb] there?  I saw them hosting this Food Network show recently.

No sign of them, but Mink Stole was there...Johnny Knoxville and Tracy Ullman are also in the movie, but they weren't around for the wrap party.
