it was ok... but dude has to learn to pace his shows better if he wants to do headlining tours (he brought up a girl from the crowd to play ms. pac-man while they dj'd/drummed to the pac-man music... that whole bit fell flat on its face, and right smack in the middle of the set too). whatever energy was still in there from the 50% capacity crowd was all gone by the end of that.

amazing skills, so-so performance i thought (the "crushd like packt sardines"/"wild thing" mix was nice).

big "ehhhh"

i was really looking forward to this, too ... i totally agree about the pacing of the show, the pac-man thing was really lame, but the biggest problem was that he strayed way too far away from who he is

z-trip made the classic DJ mistake of not playing to the crowd ... people go to see z-trip for bread-and-butter classic rock mixed with hip-hop, the first 20-30 minutes or so had some fun stuff: AC/DC, the radiohead/wild thing mashup was great, and a couple of others

but after that he just meandered through the set, played all sorts of more obscure stuff and did a really good job of it, but people weren't really there to hear obscure shit they didn't know about, they were there to hear janis joplin mixed with run dmc ... i'd say half the crowd left after he started getting "academic"

another issue: he makes all these "bold" political statements, but then he gets up there and pimps sony playstation ... like sony isn't "part of the problem"??  that kind of crass advertising mixed with sanctimonious politics just falls really flat for me (and i'm as liberal as they come)

i dunno, z-trip was really good, he just got way too academic and wasn't nearly as fun as the last show i saw and all the bootlegs i have ...

thatguy got a nice shoutout from him though ... what'd you think of the show thatguy?  didn't you say you've seen him a bunch of times?

oh, and black sheep were pretty damn good too ... it was really funny to hear "the choice is yours" ("you can get with this, or you can get with that") live, it took me back to middle school ... new stuff had some good beats and some tight rhymes, worth looking out for

I have seen him three time, and all three were great shows. I figured since he came out with a new cd that he would do stuff off it, but he works much better doing the mash ups that he is famous for. I give him a lot of credit for taking his mash ups and trying to do the production but he really should just stick to what he knows. Thats sorry to hear that it wasnt a good show, I havent ever been disapointed by one of hes shows, was sad that I missed it last night, but then again maybe I didnt miss much. looking forward to the atmosphere show.

maybe i didn't express myself clearly enough (happens a lot), it was a good show (pacing issues aside), just not what i (and half the crowd, it seems) was expecting

I was impressed by how good he is... but at the same time it wasn't really an exciting show for me.  Rjd2 at black cat last year did a much better job of getting the crowd going and keeping it interesting.

just about every day for 5 weeks last summer, plus a couple of other times.

i had a blast last night, and that's about all i ask for from a show.  i agree that the pacing was a little off and the pacman thing kinda slowed things down, but all in all it was a fun show, and had good energy.  i especially enjoyed the live drumming.
