BJM Baltimore Show Cancelled
« on: September 19, 2005, 12:39:00 pm »
Here's why:

 Okay folks, so apparently a relatively tragic thing has happened tonight.
 In Brooklyn, before the BJM's Bowery Ballroom show, the band's van along
 with the U-haul trailer containing ALL OF THE BANDS EQUIPMENT was stolen.
 People I guess have hustled to get stuff together for them to play the gig
 tonight but that leaves Anton, Rickey, Frankie, Collin, and Dan without a
 vehicle and most importantly, without all of their precious musical
 instruments and amplifiers.

 If everyone in the area (or even not so close) keeps an eye out at pawn
 shops, music stores, private sellers, and even e-bay for this missing gear-
 it could help eventually track some of it down.

 We'll try to provide a more comprehensive list eventually- but off the top
 of my head is this-

 Gretch 1960's round badge drum kit-turquoise.
 -kick drum has the BJM logo on it (who knows- the robbers might be stupid
 enough not to take it off)

 Fender Bassman 1960's blackface head
 -notable that the 'B' is blackend out so that it reads "assman"
 -this is one of the most unique and amazing sounding bass rigs, has a really
 warm, big fucked up fuzz sound when turned up.

 Frankie's 1970's siverface Fender Twin amp

 2 Fender Twin re-issue black face amps
 - the one Anton plays is notable for it's amazing huge sounding reverb.
 Basically it is a huge part of Anton's sound.
 -notable for a sticker on the front that reads "Masonic" (again, the bandits
 might be stupid enough...)

 Collin's Rickenbacker bass- red

 Rickey's 12-string 1960's Gibson ES-335 (possibly (hopefully) he had this
 with him and it was not stolen)
 -amazingly beautiful guitar

 Vox Cheetah- maroon
 -quite fucked up from years of tour abuse, but Anton's main guitar (owned by
 Frankie)

 Vox 12-string Phantom- black and white

 Vox 12-string Starstreamer- sunburst teardrop shape

 Rickenbacker 12-string 360- black and white

 Epiphone 6-string- sunburst

 Frankie also has a Telecaster- I'm not sure the details of it.

 I'm sure there was more but if people spread the word out there for this
 gear and people keep their eyes open- some of it might pop up- especially
 being sold/bought together, then there might be a chance of retrieving some
 of this stuff.

 As of now, I do not know what will happen with the few remaining shows of
 the tour. We gotta still figure out how to get the guys home!
 Anyway, it's a terrible situation- a band's worst nightmare- and maybe
 through everyone's love and support we can get through it and hopefully
 getting some of the stuff back will lessen this huge blow that was dealt to
 the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

 Please repost, spread the word, and keep an eye out.

 Thanks very much,

 Rob

 Second load of equipment I've heard of stolen in the past couple of days. The other was in NY too. Someone broke into Mahogany's studio and stole everything.

 Here's the Mahogany list too for those who may run across anything.

 Hi,
 It's Andrew Prinz from Mahogany. Our studio was broken into last night when we were at our show. The following equipment was taken from our studio in Brooklyn between 7PM and 1AM:

 * Macintosh G5 w/ MOTU PCI card installed
 * Micromoog synthesizer with specific mods
 * Akai MPC 2000 sampler with 8 outputs
 * Mackie 32*4 mixer
 * Audio Technica AT 4060 microphone, no power supply
 * Fender P-Bass, cream
 * Techtronix 11x17 flatbed image scanner with transparency adapter

 Microphones:
 * 747 audio cr-176 (silver, no brand logo, cr1-76 printed below screen. roll
 off and pad, 7 pin connector. Very, very few of these are in the us. Part of
 a stereo pair. No power supply)
 * Akg D112
 * Ampex (like sm57 w/ 4pin connector)
 * Beyer m201
 * Beyer m380 (black w/ disney engraving)
 * Electrovoice 635a
 * MXL v69me (no power supply or accessories)
 * Oktava mc012 (w/ pad, omni and cardiod)
 * RFT dm 622 (small ruggedly built blue dynamic w/ large tuchel connector)
 * Sennheiser md 421 (x2) (1 white w/ small tuchel connector, one black w/
 white clip and diagonal dent on top of screen)
 * Shure sm57 (x2) (1 w/ black tape surrounding base of grill)

 Any tips or assistance would be greatly appreciated. This equipment is necessary for the completion of our almost-finished record, and records to come.

 Please contact us at mahogany@simdisc.com.
 Thanks,
 A.

I wouldn't bother bumping this up except that I think it's very important in ways that some of you may not have even considered as of yet.

 If you notice, both bands were robbed in Brooklyn, New York no more than a week apart. One had their van full of equipement stolen and the other had their studio broken into and robbed while at a gig.

 Were they the same thieves? I honestly don't know but would not be surprised in the least if they are or in some way connected within the same ring.

 Please repost the above anywhere that you think someone may read it who may come across any of these hot items or may be able to help locate and stop the crooks in some way.

 You may not give a shit about The Brian Jonestown Massacre or Mahogany but it may be your favorite band next who is robbed the night before they are scheduled to play in DC. Or it just may be your band or your friends' band while playing in NY.
