A Stupid Question

Are the Funky Meters the same funky band that i know as The Meters?  Am i that dumb for asking this? Id hate to get tickets and get all pumped up and find out that darth vader was my father.

They are pretty much the same band.  Originally they were the Meters - then they fought, broke up, and a few of the members got together as the Funky Meters.  The original lineup just played a reunion gig at Jazz Fest.
