Dressy Bessy
« on: July 14, 2005, 10:58:00 am »
So I don't suppose anyone is going to Dressy Bessy at Black Cat backstage tonight....  Saw them last time they were there and it was a really fun show.

I've been meaning to check them out for a couple of years. I'm still sleepy from the Caesars show last night so not sure if I'll make it. Really wish I'd stayed in last night and watched 30 Days.

Their energy is good, lead singer is a stitch (wears mini dresses and high white boots), and the music is fun.

Canker, what do you mean it won't fly now?

I might go to this.  I've heard a few songs from the two groups on WOXY.  Say Hi To Your Mom is a great band name.

I'm also considering Velvet Lounge - Blast of Valor, Roue, and Patty Hearst Shifter.  Don't know a thing about the first two groups but PHS had some tunes online that sounded interesting.

I've hit a dry spell since Bloc Party a few weeks ago so a show will be seen tonight either way.

We made other plans with someone who does not like changing plans.

Alas...it's been so long since I've seen you at a show that wasn't mobbed.  See you...sometime!

I really like Say Hi to Your Mom and would love to see them live. Alas, I have dinner plans that might run late... I've only heard Dressy Bessy's Ringalingaling and it's so damn catchy.

I hadn't planned to get to BC in time to catch the opener, Say Hi to Your Mom.  Am I making a mistake?  If you think so, can you give me a quick description?

I just discovered them this week.  Here's a link to their site. I love The Twenty-Second Century. Not sure if it's your type of music or not, so you might want to take a listen. Here's a quote from their Press Section: "...a winning collection of literate, gloomy but punchy guitar-pop songs that articulate the isolation of living in a bustling city and having no one to come home to."

Ryan Adams was in Patty Hearst Shifter before he started Whiskeytown.

Great show -- sold out, hot, energetic.  Though there was a mic problem at first, the sound was good for a backstage show.  It's just a fun rock n' roll show, and Tammy is a great rock n' roll lead singer.

Great way to spend a Thursday.  I wanted to catch Say Hi to Mom, but only caught the last quarter of the last song.
