SOUNDCLASH - night of Jamaican oldies
« on: May 25, 2005, 12:11:00 pm »
Haven't bothered to post on this forum before, but since I spin at the 930 club here and there, I'll go ahead and feel justified in doing so.

Basically, once a month me and few others host this city's only real Jamaican Oldies night (though dancehall creeps in some too).  Been buying all those cheap Trojan box-set reissues?  Then you need to come to this.

 Here's the flyer:  http://www.dcsoundclash.com/clash.jpg

This Friday is actually our 3-year anniversary of doing this. Marx Cafe is at 3203 Mt. Pleasant Street. It's from 10 pm to 3 am.  No cover.

I highly recommend Soundclash, even to those folks who aren't really into reggae. Hell, I don't own any reggae stuff on vinyl or cd but I dig what these guys spin. Until I went to Soundclash, I never knew that reggae music like this existed. I guess I'm kinda like the kid who finally discovers the Velvet Underground after years of thinking that Boston & Deep Purple is what rock is all about. So come out and support these guys, will ya? Great great stuff and it's free...
