Eels are the latest artists caught in the constrictive net cast by major-label mergers. After an eight-year, six-album career on the DreamWorks label, the band is leaving parent company Universal, whose Interscope Records imprint inherited most of the artists on the now-defunct DreamWorks. Frontman E plans to issue a new Eels album next year on another label.
