Hey gang,
Chiming in with more than just our usual last-minute shout out about tonight's festivities. Lots of exciting stuff happening and about to happen. Of course, tonight we're over the moon about Som Records owner Neal (aka DJ Neville C) spinning all manners of weird and wonderful oddball pop, post-punk and diy goodness with us. We start spinning shortly after 10 and keep the tunes going until 3am! As usual, Marx Cafe's charming and ridiculously attractive bartenders will be offering a tasty selection of Belgian libations and other refreshments...

www.myspace.com/wefoughtthebigone How many of you were lucky enough to see Love Is All back when they played DC9 a few years ago? It was an incredible show and those fortunate enough to be at said event know full well that this band is a mighty force to be reckoned with live. The good news is that they're coming back and will be playing the Black Cat next Wednesday! Brandon and I will even be bringing records to spin before, inbetween and after the bands. Who says the middle of the week can't be crazy good fun?

Now, here's one release we are both equally giddy about and offer our highest recommendation to: The Lines "Memory Span," a collection of this great London-based post-punk band's singles, EPs and even a couple demos. As one of our all-time favorite artists of any era, The Lines are no stranger to regular attendees of WFTBO---we've been playing their records nearly every month since 2004, with their euphoric single "Nerve Pylon" a long-time staple at our humble event (see most recent setlist below). Seems like we're always fielding the same questions whenever we play them: "Who was that amazing song by? Where can I buy that record?" Thanks to Dan Selzer and the fine folks at Acute Records, you don't have to contend with collector's prices to obtain those singles. Find out more about the band and "Memory Span" here:
