Anyone get the new Brand New album Deja Entendu? For those of you who don't know, Brand New is an amazing emo/punk/touches-of-hardcore band from Long Island. I'm still not quite sure what I think of the album - curious to hear other people's opinions. Deja Entendu is definitely not as accessible (i.e. poppy) as their last album, Your Favorite Weapon. It is pretty mellow and I don't think the hooks are quite as good, but their lyrics are still pretty amazing ("If looks could really kill, then my profession would be staring.") This album is less pop-punk and more emo and even, at times, seems to draw from influences as eclectic as REM and Radiohead. Jesse's voice sounds a lot like Michael Stipe's on several songs.
