OUTSTANDING tickets released for Ray Lamontagne
« on: October 10, 2008, 03:52:00 pm »
I just snagged a pair of Center Orch row E for a friend who didn't get his soon enough.  Hmmm... I should keep those and give him my other ones...

I've been hoping there would be a ticket drop for this.

 I got row F.

They don't seem to come very frequently at Strathmore, with so many going to subscribers, etc.  But, I'm glad this one did...

Here's a question.  Has his new record leaked?

I'm wondering how it is if anyone has heard it.  I guess the official release date is the day of the show at Strathmore.

listening to it now and it reminds me of old soul songs from back in the day and a few that sound older than that. the phonograph pic kinda sums up the sound of hey me, hey mamma. i like it.

Sort of liked his debut, but the new one is pretty anemic.

The show was great. Ray's voice was flawless and they covered plenty of material from all three albums. Love some of the new material, especially "Let It Be Me" and "Meg White." The guy who plays pedal steel for Ray is just amazing and adds such a cool dimension to the sound. It was my 5th time seeing him and with the exception of the newness of the first show, it was the best I've seen him and his band. I would have loved to hear him cover Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy" live, but no such luck.

Do you think the show would have been better (or worse?) if his voice had been less than "flawless"?

Excellent question. I'll take some time to think about that and get back to you. In the meantime you hold your breath waiting for a response.

i enjoyed the show but was thrown off a bit b/c everyone remained seated during his set. not used to sitting for shows unless it's a play or something. i understanding sitting during the opener, but not the main act. i find that meg white song funny.

would love to hear an album more along the lines of henry nearly killed me and 3 more days with just one or two acoustic songs
