do I need to be in line to ensure getting one of those spots on the balcony where you can sit down during the show and still see?

Are you sure this is something better answered by club staph? After all, it's us the fans who wait in line to get in the show. But if you think they will have an answer, I'll ask there.

If the show is at all crowded, once the place fills in, someone can stand in front of you at the rail if you're sitting on the first step in the balcony.  Someone said there's a sign that says you can't hold your place at the rail -- I don't remember seeing that, but it's been said to exist.  Regardless, it can get prickly.  Then again, you can sit there *until* folks start to move in up to the bar in front of the sitters, then get up.

Usually during your Alt. Country shows you can get there an hour late and still get any seat that you want.

Thanks. I was thinking along the sides, where there is no bar

Anyways, I guess the earlier we're willing to get there, the better our options will be. I just wonder if many people typically show up before doortime when doors open an hour before the opener.

We meant the same place -- I meant "rail," not bar.

I think the folks who go to the club and wait before doors open are usually angling for that space right at the front of the stage.

Why don't you go for one of the stools at the upstairs bar?  Or perhaps the VIP section will be open.  there are stools there too.

Will perhaps try.

It's been so long since I've been up on the balcony, it's hard to remember the layout.

Also have never tried to arrive at doortime.

Just get there early. What Eddie said in the FAQ section is pretty accurate. And don't forget, as last time w/ the Old 97's and should be the same for DBT - you have people probably traveling from the south up for the show.
Too bad there aren't more stools. I don't even try. What sucks is when someone stands in front of it, or puts their coat on it, but doesn't sit on it.
