GWAR- Who' seen them before??
« on: October 02, 2005, 04:46:00 pm »
Hey...I'm going to the GWAR show on the 22. Has anyone hear even seen them before? Are they any good? I have never been to the 930 Club before...do they allow fire and other special effects there?

 Thanks!

Wear your sunday best to the show.  Then it will be ruined.  Seen them on many occasions, they are great live, no fire, but lots of blood, and other fluids.  Be ready for a giant mosh pit.

Welcome to the 930 bboard family.   Everyone here thinks that Gwar is just the bee's bollocks!  They are certainly on many forum members top ten list of all-time favorites.  You have found a new home in cyberspace. Share & enjoy.

Heh, I've never seen GWAR, but at the end of the last night at the old 9:30 club, when the place was being pillaged, I managed to make away with a ceiling lamp globe spattered with fake blood from a GWAR show....

ok its like i walked into an alternate universe or something. who the eff takes any band seriously that's dressed like a friggin, um, uh, transformer on crack?! i saw another band dressed like its halloween on tv recently i think.   <img src="http://images.contactmusic.com/images/artist/slipknotap.jpg" alt=" - " /> [i like the Slip Nuts better] im not 12 anymore and many of u arent either so i dont get the appeal or need for these bands to dress like retards. when i saw these bands the first time, respectively, i thougt oh this is stuff my 12 yo nephew likes, no, so-called grown adults r into this! isnt there music good enuf that they dont need to dress up like clowns? er, um, that would be better in fact. picture it:

similarly i snicker at any bands that sings in that subsonic growl like, um, dating myself here, uh "type o negative"...? like Diamond David Lee Roth sang "the circus just left town".

a gwar fan realizing all this in an instant [see the look of shocked embarassment on his face]:

I saw them years ago at a small bar in State College.  They were awesome.  I wouldn't say the music was that great, but the sheer theatrics of it all make them worth seeing.  The people in the front were drenched with all sorts of everything. But, if you stay in the back (like us boring people), you should be fine.

 Go, it's an experience.

Since 'em a couple of times at the 930 and it's always an interesting show. Music ain't anything special but you're going for the spectacle. And as long as you stand about 3/4 of the way back, you'll be pretty much immune from the fake blood/piss/semen/whatever.
