Three MP3 samples from the forthcoming covers album She Loves You are up on the One Little Indian site.

They also have a few tour stops in August in Europe, so I hope a U.S tour follows. *crosses fingers*

New record (all covers) out on 8/24!

Would be cool to see them again this Fall. Still waiting for that Whigs reunion though. *crosses fingers*

Not going to happen. Greg addressed this in a recent interview in the Big Takeover.

Quote
Dave Schulps: Did the Whigs end with a bang or a whimper?

Greg Dulli: We played a great concert. Our last official gig was a sold out show in Cincinnati, so I would consider that a bang.

DS: Would you consider working with Rick, John or...

GD: Fill in the drummer...Paul [Buchignani], Steve [Earl] or Michael [Horrigan]. Rick McCollum, John Curley and I are The Afghan Whigs. Will we record or play under that name again? No. Will I work with those guys again in the future? Yes.

That's what they all say!   ;)
They are all still active, so it's just a matter of time. It'll be Pixiesesque.

An update on the all-covers record..."since we all know that imitation is the sincerest form of ass-rocking":

  twilight singers news

"...in somewhat unexpected but really fucking cool news, Dulli told Pitchfork he's already at work on the next Twilight Singers record, which he describes as "the most ambitious recording" the band has attempted. We have given ourselves a deadline of December 1st to complete this recording and I'm already plotting the artwork."

"The Twilight Singers are also playing a fun-sized tour of Europe in August. An October schlep across the Northern U.S. is reportedly set to follow"

Here's my reaction to the possibility of another U.S. tour:

just wait - I can almost guarantee you the DC data will be somewhere between Oct 26 and Nov 6 when I'm in Ireland, thereby continuing my streak of being out of town when they play, grrrrrr......

You need to start consulting Greg Dulli before making your travel arrangements.  ;)

more info from  billboard.com :

Also in the mix is a Twilight Singers DVD project, "Black Out the Windows -- The Twilight Singers Live," due in September. Recorded earlier this year, the concert set features a guest appearance by a former Afghan Whigs member. Dulli wouldn't divulge a name: "It's either Rick (McCollum) or John (Curley)," he says."

Whigs fans should take note that there's plenty of unreleased material that could eventually see the light of day. "I have a ton," says Dulli. "But I'm waiting to see what my best option is for that."

East Coast Tour Dates
 August 30, 2004 07:41 PM »
The Twilight Singers will be playing a select group of US dates in promotion for the new album, She Loves You. Catch the band live:

 OCTOBER
 13 » Philadelphia, PA - North Star

14 » New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
(late show - 1 AM, CMJ. Limited badges honored)

 15 » Cambridge, MA - Middle East

I'm flying up for the Cambridge show. It's on a Friday night, which is better than hitting the North Star on a Wednesday. Dios Malos (formerly Dios) are opening for this show.

I'm in London that week!   :(

I feel sick. I went from feeling  so  happy to  so  sad in the time it takes to open outlook.
