B-52's
« on: July 04, 2003, 01:57:00 am »
I'm kind of surprised nobody posted anything about tonight's show (unless I missed the thread). Yeah, 40 clams is a bit steep (fortunately I had a buddy with a free ticket and so we split the cost of one).  It was a really fun night, a bit of eye candy but I was plagued by drunk weird people that kept coming up to me all night. Here's the setlist for anybody interested:

 Whammy Kiss
 Private Idaho
 Dance This Mess Around
 Lava
 Roam
 Bush Fire
 Mesopotamia
 June Bug
 Deadbeat Club
 52 Girls
 Quiche Lorraine
 Channel Z
 Strobe Light
 Love Shack
 ----------------
 Planet Claire
 Rock Lobster

Cindy and Kate's voices were superb, and Fred was just Fred...but you gotta love him.   :)   Keith looked pretty darn cool in his shades.  All in all, a rockin' fun time.  I was pretty impressed with the setlist.  Hearing 52 Girls, Dance This Mess Around, and Rock Lobster made my night.

I want to know Fred's secret.  He looked the same, not a day older.  And was doing all the great dances.

I came to the conclusion that the Sugarcubes are based on the B-52s.  Only on Deadbeat club did the ladies not try to hit a high note.  Otherwise they were up there.

Sara Lee is still rocking, and it is great that the 4 originals were there.

Took my kids to the show and they had a blast.  We were right up front.  (Always try to get into town from Richmond early just to avoid traffic, etc.)  A good time was had by all as usual at the 930.  Great club, great show.

what'd you kids think of The Players? Good stuff, they used to throw money in to the crowd.

They really enjoyed the entire show.  The percussionist gave one of my sons a drum stick when they were breaking down.  Money would have been cool too!  I have taken the boys to three shows so far at the club (James Brown, Cheap Trick, and B52s).  They are 10 and 12 years old and the trip from Richmond to the club and back is a bit much for them but they usually hang tough!

Liked the Players, singer made me think what Sid Vicious would have looked like if he were healthy.  Good ska.

Well i saw the B-52's a few years ago at Merriweather and they were great there, so i knew they would be great at the 9:30 Club and they did not disappoint........Well not playing Good Stuff was kinda disappointing but the rest was great. Was it me or could they have made their voices a little louder, seemed like you couldnt hear them well with the instruments being a bit loud.....Maybe it was just me.
