 Darkness Land in U.S. Again

British rockers continue to tour behind debut

The Darkness will return to the U.S. once again for a fourteen-date tour to launch in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on May 30th.

The British metal men and operatic frontman Justin Hawkins are still plugging their debut, Permission to Land, which has made some inroads in the States, breaking the Top 100, but nothing like the reception the record has received in the U.K., where it debuted Number Two. The tour will be preceded by a new Permission single, "Growin' on Me," which the band hopes will garner greater American attention.

Should that fail, the high octane concerts might make more converts, as Hawkins offers his series of kicks and splits while clad in Lycra unitards. "Once, I tried to do a headstand and incorporate the splits," Hawkins told Rolling Stone. "And one of my balls popped out right in front of Ed [Graham, drummer], and he totally fell out of time. I like to show him my balls now and then, but not in that context."

The group will head to Europe in July for a series of summer festival shows that wrap on August 27th and 28th with the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
