For fans of classic U.K. post-punk/indie...

Hey everyone,

Been AWOL for a while on this here board.

Some of you guys are aware my main passion/obsession is tracking down great post-punk/indie recordings that have fallen through the cracks over the years. It amazes me how much great stuff there is that's gone unnoticed, particularly during the golden age of post-punk ('77 - '83). (It also amazes & saddens me that a lot (most?) of today's younger generation of indie music fans don't know about bands like Gang of Four, Wire, Young Marble Giants, etc., but I guess that's to be expected.)

Anyway, over the 3 years plus that I've been co-djing "We Fought the Big One" (a monthly tribute to said artists) over at the Marx Cafe, I've put together a new compilation of favorite post-punk/indie tracks to mark each anniversary for the night to give away to attendees.

Well, now you don't have to come out to the Marx Cafe to get your hands on them. Just wanted to say that these compilations are now freely available over at Crooked Beat Records on 18th Street (look for them by the front counter). So enjoy 'em while you can---they are in limited supply.

Also, for those that are interested (and sorry for the shameless plug here), the next Big One is this Friday, May 4 over at Marx Cafe. We'll be spinning all kinds of classic indie goodness until 3am, so stop by if you're in or around the Mt. Pleasant area.

 Cheers!
 Rick

We Fought The Big One is always a good night. Anyone who is remotely considering going, should go. You can always count on Rick to have a few extra special surprises tucked up his musical sleeve to delight your ears.

WFtBO is a night for true lovers of music who want more than just your standard over-played tunes you hear at some other hang outs. Not for the Mainstream at heart.

Always a good mix of people too. Hip enough for the hipsters yet egos are left at home so you don't get the common holier than thou frozen shoulders that sometimes muck up an otherwise good night in a few other places.

Thanks for the kind words, Jag!

Living closer to Baltimore, I had no idea that this was going on.  Thank you.  Thank you very, very much.
