Here a sign, There a sign
« on: September 27, 2004, 12:18:00 pm »
every where a sign for Kerry!

Just got back from a quick trip to see the Parental units in Grosse Pointe.  Seeing several Kerry signs while driving through Detroit wasn't unexpected,  seeing numerous Kerry signs in Grosse Pointe was!  Grosse Pointe is the "old money" Detroit suburb and a long standing Republican stronghold.  So to see the signs posted means something is working for his favor.  Even driving through the area most famous for the Reagen Democrats where one would expect a W sticker on every pickup truck, none were spotted.

Got a couple more fun stories to share and picked up some rad new cds on the trip...

unfortunately signage doesn't win elections, or kerry would be ahead by a mile.

i don't think bush voters boast about their support for him, they just quietly pull the lever.

When I was on my way over to White Flint mall yesterday, I saw a pro-Bush sign. It caught me off-guard, but made me realize I was definitely outside of Takoma Park!

picked this up thinking it was the new Westerberg record, when in fact it was last years release.  anyway, it's one great record like a lost collection of Replacements song.  Had i heard it last it year it may have been the record of the year for me.  gnarly guitar sounds, paul sounding a bit like dylan  channeling the smirk of johnny lydon.  i would love to hear this material live and would hope that he takes along tommy keene as hired gun again, because his guitar work would be perfect for this stuff.  swaggertastic all around...

on my back way back to balwmer via chicago, i encountered possibly my first two "celebs" in an airport... first there was one of the southwest employees who has appeared in A&E's reality show Airport.  and one of the passengers on my flight was none other than Barack Obama.  he gets props in my book for not getting special boarding priveledges, he in fact boarded in that last group of people because of arriving late to the gate.

When I was flying out to CA for Coachella earlier this year, the camera crew was wandering around filming a guy on his way to Vegas for the StrongMan competition. I don't know if they actually aired the footage, though.

I thought Grosse Point was trying to suppress the "Detroit Vote"?

I did a summer semester abroad in '96 in Florence, Italy.  On my way back to MD from abroad, I flew to JFK first.  Who was at the check-in counter in front me, and helped me handle my drawing portfolio? None other than Morrissey.  Pretty fucking cool!

i like jumping on the signs.  kerrys signs have those crappy wire things and are low to the ground so i jump on them so they are flat.  The Bush signs around here are on wooden stake things so i take the sign off...i set one on fire and the other one is in the woods....it makes the walk places a lot easier and entertaining for the whole group....

i wonder if anyone has ever driven down the street and said "who the fuck is this Kerry guy?" or "i have to check out whos running for president..."
only people who are underground or jessica simpson don't know who the fuck is running.

I'm in Saratoga Springs now, and on the way here from the Albany airport, one in five cars had a yellow or red/white/blue ribbon on it.  I was really amazed there'd be so many, anywhere....
