 Located conviniently close to the Black Cat in downtown DC, this burger/chili/dog joint has been a DC staple for years. Everything is good, and nothing is good for you. Be careful how much you order, it can come back to haunt you. Also, it's open late, so we would advise eating there AFTER the show. Bad things can happen if you get too much Ben's before going on stage.

 On the northbound feeder road off of I-35 at exit 353 there is a Shell station. In that Shell station is the Czech Stop, home to some of the best kolachies we have had. What is a kolache? It's a Czech sausage wrapped in a roll. Our advice is to order a box of all different types, and don't forget to order a Spicy Hot Chubby. Grab a Big Czech to wash it all down.
 
 oh, how many times i've stopped there when i was in college coming back from dallas/going to dallas.  west is also home to west-fest, basically, a big czech festival with lots of drinking.

I would probably never go to a Dodger game where Anaheim or Pittsburgh wasn't playing if it weren't for Philippe's on the way.  Good stuff.  And they serve anything from PBR in a can up to Plumpjack and Justin.  Amazing stuff.

 Every time we're in L.A., we can't wait to leave. Not because we don't like L.A., but because this is always our last stop before skipping town. Philippe the Original is the birthplace of the French dip sandwich: roast beef served on a freshly baked French roll dipped (or double dipped if requested...and you should because you will love it) in the natural gravy of the meat. Other equally good choices are roast pork, leg of lamb, oven-roasted turkey or ham. The homemade lemonade is great and coffee still costs the same as it did when they opened in 1908: a mere $.09 cents. It's an L.A. institution.

Ben's Chili Bowl was much cooler before it became a de-rigeur stop for hipsters slumming it... back in the days when Stokely used to breakfast there, those were the days to hang out at Ben's.

The best cuban sandwich in Pinellas County (St. Pete/Clearwater, Florida) is in this odd little convenience store on this stretch of highway across from the St Pete/Clearwater airport.  Yum.
