How To Rid Your Roof of Rodents
« on: July 16, 2003, 09:35:00 am »
i hope someone here may know what to do.... i seem to have a rodent of some sort (not just a smalll mouse, it sounds larger than that) that crawled through a small hole or something from my roof and is now trapped in the crawlspace underneath my roof and above my ceiling... it sounds weird as hell and is freaking me out. i wish you could hear what it sounds like! it's crazy. a pest control man came but they can't really do anything because there is no access to that crawl space unless we cut a hole. wise members of the board, i pose this question to you.. how the HELL do i get this thing out of my roof?

Leave it rot and die there, then when the bodily fluids start to seep through the drywall you know two things: 1) it's dead 2) where to cut it out.  My parents own a cabin in god's country and this is very common (no not the bodily fluid part).  Usually you do nothing.  If it found its way in, it usually finds its way out.  I also know that animals as small as squirrels can sound like a herd of buffalo... I honestly think it's nothing to worry about.  And remember, most animals are pretty lean and composed of next to nothing.  Even if it does "pass", chances are it will just dry up and you will not have a clue anything has happened.

thanks.. well at least it can't seep/eat its way through.. my walls are made of plaster. i don't mind letting it stay there, but it's hard as hell to sleep at night hearing this animal run around like it's on speed. i have left marks on my walls from throwing shoes at it. my neighbors are probably complaining too because i'm playing music really loud to drown out its scratching. oops.

There's a little doo-hickey you can buy at Hardware stores. It sends out low frequency noises that pisses animals off so they leave, but we can't hear it. I got rid of some little feckers in my attic that way. It works really well. The only thing is if you have pets it's not recommended you use it because it will piss them off too! You will see it in the section were they have  mouse traps and all that stuff.
