Indie is the new mainstream. [/b]
Say it so!  Ok, where are we snobby music know-it-alls supposed to go now?  Throw them for a loop and start championing Country-Polka Fusion?  Maybe we can get a CPF tent at V-Fest 2008, I'm going to the Hey Seth thread right now that'll show those beer swillen, polo wearing, topsider sportin poseurs!

I hate to say it, because it'll undoubtedly give the pro-baltimore lobby it's second ego boost in less than a week....but the AM show at Sonar with W.A.S. was better than both shows at the club.  Sonar is such a dismal venue, with those phuckin pillars in the way, but the energy at the show from both band and crowd was a little higher than last night.  They had just come out with Who The Phuck are the AM's and those songs were definitely played with some abandon.

I thought it wasn't a good show, at some moments I was really having a fun time and at others I felt like the band were kind of one-dimensional. That being said, for what they are I think they do it well. I would imagine in the UK they would be one of those "let's get pissed and sing our arses off" kind of bands. I was getting some of that vibe last night from the people around me. Lots and lots of singing and drunken hugging. In a way I have to say that it was really neat to see how many people were getting excited about the show, and I didn't see or notice any moshing. People jumping up and down and dancing around is NOT the same thing as moshing. Trust me, I went to many, many concerts in the 1990's where that crap just got totally out of control.

That's an understatement, they have two dates at Old Trafford in July, 70K plus and yes TWO dates.

I'm assuming they'll play everything they've ever recorded and perhaps some covers and the set might clock in a little over 2 hours.  No worries it'll be on DVD in time for Xmas. [/b]
Amy Winehouse is on that bill.

I was at the Sonar show last year as well as the 930 club show last year.  In my opinion I thought last night's show was the best but I seem to be in the minority.  I really enjoyed the show, but I went in expecting the following:

 -short show
 -little on-stage banter
 -no encore.

I thought the song selection and sound was great (I was upstairs over soundboard).  Also DC's no smoking policy has made my 930 shows so much more enjoyable.

i don't get it... were the "2 dudes" security staph, or two random patrons?  how did they damn near brake your camera? [/b]
They were the dudes who stand in between the stage and the railing, i had my camera out and the guy palmed the lens of my camera and jammed it in, is that really necessary? Last night i took pictures and I didn't get haggled for it. I go a few good ones off.

As for last night's show, Last year I drove down to The Norva to see them, This show was wayyyy better than the Norva show. The set seemed more non-stop and they were WAY more intereactive with the crowd this time around. Last time I saw them they said nothing. The only thing I liked better about the first show, Alex walked on stage by himself and sang Riot Van. After the show we stayed on the balcont and waited for the crowd to clear out a bit and I ended up meeting Jemina Pearl of BYOP and I fucking love her so much! She's so adorable and she stayed and talked with us for a few minutes before we were forced to clear out the balcony. The only complaint I had about the show: No "Perhaps The Word Vampire Is A Bit Strong, But..."

BYOP's "Kelly Affair" is an amazing song. I want that! Jemina's dancing in that song was so 50's swing and punk. It was insanity. Great fucking show.

Errmmm, how about Chrissy Hynde and Shirley Manson?  They've stayed the course.

I was an AM "weergin" until Wed's show.  I thought it was great.  I thought the "best in crowd" award went to the older couple up in the balcony (stage right) who knew ever word and danced so vigourously I thought they might fall over the rail a few times.    :)

Looking forward to their next appearance.

Are you kidding? Chrissie Hynde is the black widow of rock bands fronted by women. Well sure, 2 guys died from smack, but then she sacked the one remaining one (Martin Chambers). Thankfully she brought him back.

They were amazing, weren't they?  Knew all the lyrics and were positively giddy with excitement.  I felt a bit jealous.     :(
