so, any Ouagadougou Recommendations/tips?
« on: October 08, 2004, 10:25:00 am »
I'm leaving tomorrow for a weekend in Ouagadougou.  I think this is my third time. I've done a lot of the usual suspects already.  I'm more than little disappointed to be missing a lot of good shows while I'm gone. I checked Pollstar for Ouagadougou this weekend, but the pickin's look slim. Very slim.

But...Does anybody know of a good other source for checking on shows over there?

Any show recommendations for next week that you know of?

Anything else brilliant that I just need to do while I'm there?

I've never been. I heard Ouagadougou is impoverished and the people are dopey. However, I hear excellent things of their afternoon theater:

Don't you mean "The Ouaga", or "The Big Ouagaski", bro?

Looks like Great White stopped there on their last tour:

Ouagadougou's Grande Marché is also worth a visit however it remains to be rebuilt after a fire ravaged it in 2003.

I just checked Mapquest.  There is no Hard Rock Cafe in Ouagadougou !

But there are at least three Applebee's.

If all else fails, you know that you can always stop in for a Coke at the local McDonalds.

Yum. Nothing like good old American home cooking.
