Run for Cover

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it yet-- any other Boardies make the Run for Cover show on Sat?  I'd be interested to hear others' impressions.

I myself found it a disappointment.  The L.L. Cool J set kind of killed the night, with its 15 minute set up time and way too long set time, in my opinion.  I would have liked more 80's covers or indie covers and less metal/pop.

I was there.  Had a great time.  Definitely agree about LL Cool J. Too long to setup and then played waaay too long. The Van Halen group sucked, but in a fun way.   The B's and Zeppelin were great.  I was very surprised how crowded it was.

They were good, musically, but somewhat boring to watch.

I didn't realize until Saturday night how tough it is to do an all-cover show.  I mean, when bands I like do one or two covers, it's always fun.  But all covers?  It has to be close enough to the original to be recognized, but not so close that it's regurgitating, and has to be fun on stage.  That's a tall order to fill.

I thought the Oasis band did a good job of this.

I'm about the same as the rest; some of 'em were just a great time, then I'd lose attention during others.  For the first time, I ended up at a table in the back.  Made for a fun evening with a big group of friends.  We did run back up front for the B-52s closer.

I, too, was amazed at how crowded it was.  I got there at 10:40 and there was a line almost to Cafe Saint Ex.  I asked and at that point they'd sold 340 tickets...
